The spirit of philanthropy of the late Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng continued to live on as IOI Foundation (formerly known as Yayasan Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng), funded entirely by IOI Group and the estate of the late Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng, donated RM5 million to the UTAR Hospital on 9 March 2022.

UTAR Hospital is a teaching and community hospital set up by UTAR to provide medical care and services in Western Medicine and Traditional and Complementary Medicine including Chinese, Ayurvedic, and Traditional Malay Medicine. It also provides clinical training for UTAR’s medical and health sciences students.

The event also saw the launching of the Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng Lecture Theatre in the UTAR Faculty of Science, Kampar Campus. The Lecture Theatre was named in honour of the late Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng to commemorate the legacy of the late Tan Sri Lee, a visionary entrepreneur and respected philanthropist who believed that education is a key to career success. His firm belief in education also paved the way for many students in various universities to gain financial assistance under the IOI Foundation (formerly known as Yayasan Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng) Scholarships. Puan Sri Hoong May Kuan, IOI Corporation Berhad Group Managing Director and Chief Executive cum Trustee of IOI Foundation (formerly known as Yayasan Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng) Dato’ Lee Yeow Chor, and the late Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng’s family members were present to witness the official launching of the Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng Lecture Theatre.
