Dato’ Lee Yeow Chor Elected as New Chairman of MPOA

The Malaysian Palm Oil Association (MPOA) has appointed Dato’ Lee Yeow Chor, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive of IOI Corporation Berhad as its new Chairman, for the term 2020 – 2022 during its Annual General Meeting and Council Meeting held on the 29 June 2020. Dato’ Lee succeeds this position from Datuk Franki Anthony Dass who retires after serving the Association from 2016 to 2020. Dato’ Lee was the Chairman of Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) from February 2009 to March 2020.

Dato’ Lee’s vast and long experience in the industry will definitely give MPOA the added boost in addressing issues plaguing the plantation sector. In the same appointment, Mr Au Yong Siew Fah, Chief Executive Officer of Hap Seng Plantations Holding Berhad, was re-elected as the Vice Chairman of the association. MPOA, established since 1999, is a national association comprising 121-member plantation companies which own and/or manage a combined total of 1.82 million hectares or 40% of oil palm planted area, making it the single largest association representing the industry in Malaysia.
