Ben Vreeburg, IOI Loders Croklaan’s Sustainability Director: "Last week we unloaded our millionth ton of segregated (SG) RSPO certified palm oil. In Europe, we are one of the front runners in the supply of sustainable palm oil."

On 25 March 2010, IOI Loders Croklaan was the first in Europe to ever receive a SG RSPO certified palm oil cargo. Vreeburg: "Over the past 1.5 years, we have seen a strong and continuous growth, partly because of our active and stimulating policy and production flexibility.”

“At present we import 53% of our European palm oil as SG RSPO certified. This corresponds to approximately 450,000 tons SG RSPO certified palm oil. The demand for sustainable palm oil has now risen to 42% of our total demand in the last (third) quarter," says Vreeburg.

We expect a continuous increase of RSPO certified palm oil in 2015. This is due to a growing belief that sustainable palm oil is the only right thing to buy. Something we fully support. New EU labelling legislation (2015) and a growing demand for traceable supply chains are other key factors for growth.”
