IOI Corporation Berhad (IOI) has significantly improved its performance in all the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) dimensions compared to the previous assessment year, confirming IOI’s focus on sustainability. Based on the SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2020 (CSA), IOI has successfully increased its performance in the environmental dimension from 39 percentile to 82 percentile this year. IOI has also increased its social dimension performance from 30 percentile to 61 percentile, as well as its governance and economic dimension from 47 percentile to 65 percentile.
IOI’s marked performance has led it to be ranked top 35 among 112 assessed companies with the highest market capitalisation in the Food Products industry under the emerging markets category. As a result of IOI’s overall improved ranking, IOI is currently placed at the 71st percentile as compared to the 45th percentile last year.
The CSA is an annual evaluation of companies’ sustainability practices on ESG dimensions. A total of 4,710 public listed companies with the highest market capitalisation across 61 industries worldwide were assessed, and the most sustainable companies will eventually be selected as a constituent of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices.
IOI will continue to improve its ESG performance and aspires to be included as one of the top industry leaders in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices.
