IOI Corporation Berhad (IOI) achieved a double victory at the Minority Shareholders Watch Group (MSWG)’s recent National Corporate Governance & Sustainability Awards (NACGSA) 2024, held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on 26 September 2024. We were honored with two prestigious accolades during the ceremony, namely the Overall Excellence Award 2024 (Top 10) and Industry Excellence Award 2024 (Plantation).

IOI was ranked 9th out of 854 public-listed companies (PLCs) in Malaysia, placing us in the Top 10 ranking among 50 honourees of the Overall Excellence Award, while the Industry Excellence Award recognises our role in raising the bar in promoting environmental, social and governance within the plantation sector. This dual recognition reflects our commitment to the highest standards of good governance and sustainable practices, underscoring our ongoing efforts in driving responsible corporate practices that create values and deliver long-term benefits for our stakeholders, while safeguarding the environment and ensuring sustainable development within the industry.

The NACGSA honours exemplary corporate governance and sustainability based on a more comprehensive methodology endorsed by the Securities Commission Malaysia, replacing the former MSWG-ASEAN Corporate Governance Awards held since 2009. The award framework integrates three key assessments, namely the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard, the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance and the Sustainability assessment developed by Bursa Malaysia and MSWG. A key outcome from this edition was the ranking of Top 50 PLCs which scored an impressive 84% on average, setting a new benchmark for best practices among Malaysian PLCs to raise their standards continually.
