Since 2021, IOI Corporation Berhad’s (IOI) Sustainability Consultation Forum (SCF) has been an annual platform dedicated to leveraging the expertise of our partners, civil society organisations and technical experts to innovate and create long-term, positive impacts throughout our value chain. This year was no exception, our fourth SCF featured insightful exchanges among more than 60 internal and external participants focused on the critical issues of biodiversity on 1 August 2024.

Themed “Addressing the Impacts on Biodiversity and Ecosystems”, the forum fostered fruitful discussions on understanding the current state – threats, impacts and challenges facing biodiversity and ecosystems – as well as identifying gaps and developing actionable solutions to enhance biodiversity and ecosystems in the regions where IOI operates. We also took the opportunity to present our existing implementation of biodiversity, conservation and rehabilitation activities as well as our Biodiversity and Ecosystem Enhancement Guidelines to strengthen our biodiversity and conservation efforts in these areas.

Malaysian non-profit organisation Global Environment Centre (GEC) moderated this year’s SCF in a hybrid format, facilitating both physical and virtual participation while using online polls to prioritise key issues and solutions. It was attended by IOI’s senior leadership and management team, including IOI Independent Non-Executive Director Dr Nesadurai Kalanithi, Group Managing Director & Chief Executive Dato’ Lee Yeow Chor, Plantation Director Mr NB Sudhakaran and Chief Sustainability Officer Dr Surina Ismail, as well as external participants from various government agencies, non-governmental organisations and private sector.
