IOI Oleochemical Industries Berhad (IOI Oleo) continues to lead with exemplary industry-leading responsible care practices and was honoured once again during the prestigious 13th Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM) Responsible Care Awards 2015/2016 recently.
Two of IOI Oleo’s subsidiary companies, IOI Pan-Century Oleochemicals (IOI Pan-Cen Oleo) and IOI Acidchem bagged a total win of ten awards for their commitment and progress toward the Responsible Care’s Six Codes of Management Practices. The awards were presented by International Trade and Industry Second Minister YB Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan at a presentation ceremony held on 2 December 2016 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
IOI Pan-Cen Oleo won two platinum awards on Employee Health & Safety Code and Community Awareness & Emergency Response Code; a gold award on Pollution Prevention Code and two silver awards on Distribution Code and Process Safety Code. The two platinum awards were accorded to IOI Pan-Cen Oleo in recognition of its continuous achievement in winning the gold award for both codes of management practices for three consecutive years.
Meanwhile, IOI Acidchem won four silver awards on Employee Health & Safety Code, Pollution Prevention Code, Distribution Code and Process Safety Code as well as a merit award on Community Awareness & Emergency Response Code. IOI Acidchem has participated in the CICM Responsible Care Awards since year 2006 and won platinum awards for Pollution Prevention Code and Employee Health & Safety Code in year 2010.

In addition, IOI Oleo also outshone other multinational companies in the industry by winning the coveted Malaysian Palm Oil Board’s (MPOB) Palm Industry Award (Anugerah Industri Sawit) 2015/2016 for Best Oleochemical Producer in Malaysia for the fourth time. IOI Oleo had previously won the award in 2006, 2010 and 2012. The award was presented by the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities YB Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong at a dinner and presentation ceremony held on 8 December 2016 at Everly Hotel, Putrajaya.
