Update on IOI Pelita Mediation Process with LTK Communities

We are pleased to share that the Resident of Miri, the chief representative of the Government in Miri, has fixed the next mediation meeting between IOI Pelita and the LTK communities on 28 March 2016 with the purpose of introducing the newly-formed Mediation Panel to the parties.

The members of the Mediation Panel, Mr Emang Oyok, Dr Ramy Bulan and Mr SH Lim brings with them a good synergy of local knowledge, legal, cultural needs, local language and dialects to improve the discussion towards a meaningful long-term resolution.

The Resident has also scheduled further mediation sessions on 11 and 12 April 2016.


Additional Notes:

Mr Emang Oyok is the former Deputy Resident of Miri and possesses in-depth knowledge of the LTK communities and the on-going issues between IOI Pelita and the local communities.
Dr Ramy Bulan is a Sarawakian law professor specialising in Rights of Indigenous People at Universiti Malaya.
Mr SH Lim is a senior Sarawakian law practitioner with extensive experience in mediation.
